Eventing

What is it?

“The Event” at Isaacks Ranch is the only recognized event in the state for Area X (NM, AZ, NV) Eventing is best described as an equestrian triathlon. The sport originated as a cavalry test and is comprised of three phases: dressage, cross-country, and show jumping. Eventing tests horse and rider pairs more completely than any other. Held over one, two, or three days, Eventing is one of the few Olympic sports where men and women compete alongside one another as equals.

3 Phases

The competition consists of 3 phases; Dressage, Cross Country, and Show Jumping.  The same Horse an Rider team must complete all 3 phases for each division. The team with the least amount of penalty points wins the division.

1 - Dressage  phase is the first of Eventing's three phases, where a horse and rider perform a prescribed, memorized sequence of movements in an enclosed arena to demonstrate the horse's training, obedience, balance, suppleness, and a harmonious partnership

2 - Cross country Phase  tests a horse's stamina, bravery, and the rider's precision and strategic decision-making to balance speed, safety, and the horse's fitness, with penalties incurred for refusals, time over the optimum time, or falls.

3 - Show Jumping phase tests the horse's accuracy, agility, and obedience after the strenuous cross-country test.

Volunteers

Each year many volunteers are needed to make our Event happen, Cross country jump judges, score runners, scribes. Its a great way to get involved with the sport of Eventing. Are you interested in Volunteering?
